British Designers Collective at Bicester Village

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to attend the launch of British Designers Collective at Bicester Village. In its fourth year, the pop up shop features well-known and up and coming British designers. The pieces are curated by Yasmin Sewell (pic 2) and was opened yesterday by the ambassador Rita Ora (pic 1 shows a projection of her accompanying video for the project).
Some of the designers featured this year are the ever so lovely Imogen Belfield ( 3),  Henry Holland (4) and Nicholas Kirkwood (5).
If you go to Bicester Village (designer outlet shops) it'd be rude not to shop. I've been quite good and only bought this Kate Spade toiletries bag this time, but planning a proper shopping session soon.

Have a stylish day.

Meeting Alexander Wang at Liberty London

Alexander Wang needs no introduction. The New York based designer (with Taiwanese heritage) started his own label in 2007 after dropping out of Parsons School of Design. And he became an instant hit. Since then he launched a cheaper line T by Alexander Wang as well as collection of shoes and bags(which are all to die for, see pics below).
It was a great pleasure meeting him today at Liberty London. For those who may not know it, Liberty is a very cool shopping destination (you can buy Wang there) right in the uber stylish area of Carnaby Street and Kingly street. I loved their shop windows designed specially for the event in collab with Love magazine. After Alexander rushed to front row of Giles and straight back to Liberty for his own party.
Thanks to twitter I can report that among the attendees were Victoria Beckham, Henry Holland, Alexa Chung (who took on the DJ decks as well), Katie Grand and so on plus Beth Ditto performing!
I am pleased to say that Alexander was very sweet, talking to everyone and patiently posing with numerous people attending the event.
Big thank you to Liberty and Love magazine for organising this and of course to Alexander Wang.
Have a stylish day.

London Fashion Week day 2

So it's the day too here at Somerset House. Loads of designers already presented their AW 11 collections and amongs today ones were big names like Jaeger, Henry Holland and Jonathan Saunders (more about him later).  Apart from being here I went round London today, because I had to do some stuff and I took some pictures that I want to show you. So I've got loads of exciting posts coming up in the next few days, don't forget to check regularly.
Today I want to show you pictures from yesterday's show I attended by Jasper Garvida and also share gossip from last night's Vauxhall Fashion Scout's 10th year anniversary party, both held at the Freemason's Hall in London.
Jasper Garvida has been on the fashion scene since November 2008 and has produced four ready-to-wear collections, all highly acclaimed. Its luxury womenswear is one to watch. What better way to describe the collection than in his own words:
Inspired by the novel ‘Soie’ by Alessandro Baricco – a romantic tale of a European man who becomes enchanted by the east – the collection focuses on contrasts, and the beauty that can be formed when two different worlds intertwine. With elements of 19th century design combined with an oriental silhouette, the collection incorporates strong streamlined tailoring and soft draping with demure skirt lengths that have been given a sexy edge in the form of daring slits and peek-a-boo cut-outs to reveal flashes sensuality.

The slick tailoring, armour-like-hand-embellishment and textured pieces are combined with beautiful, softly draped silk jersey and, lace pieces that depict the journey of two opposite worlds meeting, to create balance, harmony, grace and elegance – all of which serves to add an intriguing romantic undertone to the collection.

Jasper Garvida is one of the many designers showcased by Vauxhall Fashion Scout, who help promote new emerging designers to wider range of audience. They have helped exciting talent like David Koma, William Tempest, Felder Felder to name just a few. I was excited to be invited to their party celebrating ten years of being leading platform for design innovation. The free bar full of great cocktails, they had amazing home made sushi and cakes, the music was just right and the crowd interesting. I had a great night and have a few pics to share. Hope you'll enjoy them all.
Have a stylish day.

Alexa Chung

Model turned TV presenter Alexa Chung's style is popular not only in UK, but she is pretty big in the US as well. She often appears on best dressed lists and a further proof of her fashion status is a string of fashion programmes on TV. She hosted a show Frock me with her friend designer Henry Holland among others and got her big break in America presenting her own show. I have to admit I'm not a fan of all of her outfits, but she's got her own style and is true to herself and I admire that. She has fans and followers all over the world and is a muse to many. She even had a bag named after her - the famous Alexa by Mulberry. Here are some of her style choices I like, plus a picture from a fashion editorial, where she looks simply amazing. Enjoy.
Have a stylish day.
